At St Albans Independent College, our primary aim is to equip students with the best possible education. However, we also recognise that student personal development and wellbeing are equally important.

Supporting Students at Key Life Stages

We understand that young people joining the College are at an important stage in their lives. As they transition into adulthood, they need to take greater responsibility for their actions, develop independence, and engage with wider social, moral, and cultural issues. To support this, we offer a rolling programme of personal development activities designed to challenge, inspire, and engage students beyond the classroom.

Guest Speakers & Enrichment Opportunities

Our programme features eminent guest speakers from a wide range of fields, including academia, media, politics, art, and business. These sessions provide students with valuable insights and encourage them to think critically about the world around them.

We also organise educational trips and cultural experiences, such as theatre visits, academic conferences, and exhibitions, giving students the chance to broaden their horizons and apply their learning in real-world contexts.

Student-Led Charity & Fundraising Initiatives

At St Albans College, we encourage students to take an active role in charitable activities and fundraising events. Recent student initiatives have included fancy dress days, cake sales, and sponsored challenges. Students at the College have been recognised with The British Red Cross Humanitarian Active School Award, completing challenges in First Aid Training, Humanitarian Education, and fundraising.

Personal Development for Academic and Social Growth

Our personal development programme is designed to foster critical thinking, self-confidence, and social skills. By nurturing students in these areas, we see a direct positive impact on their academic performance and overall wellbeing.
